What is the grant strategy for The Byerly Foundation?
The Byerly Foundation Board has determined that the quality of education within a community is one of the chief factors contributing to the quality of life for all its citizens. So, since The Foundation began making grants in 1998, public education has been a top priority.
The Board also believes that a vital, growing community must have a strong economic structure and that many of the grants should help to enhance the economic development of the community. The third leg of the grant strategy is the aspect that deals with programs, projects and organizations that enhance the quality of living.
A second major aspect of the grant-making strategy is that the Board knows that, while the funds it provides can help, it plays a much more vital role in Hartsville by serving as a catalyst for positive change, as well as being an organization that can help span organizational boundaries by facilitating increased cooperation, collaboration and communication within the community.
